A proposed bill to give California's nurse practitioners (NPs) more independence has fizzled for the year, according to Kaiser Health News. In the article, Healthforce Center at UCSF Associate Director of Research Joanne Spetz explains how giving NPs more autonomy affects consumers:
"If you have more competition in the market, the prices will drop, and those dropped prices are great for consumers and patients, but...mean someone's going to lose money. And that may be a doctor."
