UCSF Clinical Leadership Accelerator

The UCSF Clinical Leadership Accelerator gives clinical faculty an opportunity to gain the insight and skills needed to lead change and improve health care.

The UCSF Clinical Leadership Accelerator (UCSF-CLA) Program is an opportunity for faculty to gain insights and skills to lead change and improve health care. The program is funded through the Chancellor's Strategic Initiative and is FREE for participants.

Grounded in Healthforce Center's leadership model, the program provides relevant leadership training for clinical faculty. As a result, CLA participants will:

  • Increase self-awareness and self-efficacy
  • Acquire skills to address complex issues and challenges
  • Learn tools to effectively communicate, negotiate and collaborate
  • Gain a greater sense of community at UCSF

Department chairs and division chiefs can nominate faculty who can commit to a cohort by completing this brief survey by Thurs., Dec. 20, 2018.

This program consists of two in-person training sessions, two hour-long webinar meetings, and 2-4 hours of pre-work. 

In-person session dates:

  • Thursday September 13, 2018, 9:00-5:00 p.m.
  • Thursday November 15, 2018, 9:00-5:00 p.m. 
  • Webinar dates will be scheduled to accommodate participant availability. 

Participants are required to attend all sessions.

Who Should Apply

UCSF clinical faculty with five or more years of experience in a leadership role are eligible. Participants will choose from one of three cohorts, each consisting of two all-day training sessions, as well as a total of five additional hours of assignments before and between in-person sessions.

Cohort 1

  • Thurs., March 7, 2019
  • Thurs., April 4, 2019

Cohort 2

  • Tues., April 30, 2019
  • Wed., May 22, 2019

Cohort 3

  • Tues., April 30, 2019
  • Tues., May 28, 2019

Program fees, administrative costs and materials are covered by Healthforce Center at UCSF.
