Mood disorders such as depression and anxiety are among the most common medical conditions affecting perinatal patients. According to the California Department of Public Health, perinatal depression impacts around 1 in 5 pregnant patients in California and as many as 1 in 4 pregnant patients who identify as Black or Latina.
