Collaborative Care Model for Perinatal Mental Health

Mood disorders such as depression and anxiety are among the most common medical conditions affecting perinatal patients. According to the California Department of Public Health, perinatal depression impacts around 1 in 5 pregnant patients in California and as many as 1 in 4 pregnant patients who identify as Black or Latina. Despite the prevalence, it often goes undetected and untreated—particularly in medically underserved communities—leading to serious consequences for both parent and child. There is an urgent need for integrated, evidence-based approaches that can be scaled within primary care settings to effectively address these mental health needs.

This one-hour webinar will introduce participants to the Collaborative Care Model (CoCM), an evidence-based framework for integrating behavioral health into primary care. Attendees will learn the fundamentals of the model and explore its application to perinatal depression. The session will highlight outcomes from an ongoing initiative in Los Angeles to implement CoCM for perinatal patients and feature real-world insights from two Federally Qualified Health Centers that have adopted the model. Join us to discover practical tools, lessons learned, and strategies for making integrated perinatal mental health care a reality.

This webinar is tailored for healthcare professionals involved in perinatal care—including those in primary care, obstetrics, pediatrics—as well as mental health care. It welcomes clinical and administrative leaders, providers, and staff. The content is especially relevant for those interested in integrative behavioral health care models and actionable strategies to support perinatal mental health.
