Katrina Kimport, PhD
Katrina Kimport is affiliated faculty at Healthforce Center at UCSF, professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences and sociologist in the Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health (ANSIRH) program at UCSF.
Kimport’s research examines the (re)production of inequality in health and reproduction, with a topical focus on abortion, contraception, and pregnancy. She specializes in qualitative research methods. She is the author of No Real Choice: How Culture and Politics Matter for Reproductive Autonomy (2022, Rutgers) and Queering Marriage: Challenging Family Formation in the United States (2014, Rutgers), and co-author, with Jennifer Earl, of Digitally Enabled Social Change (2011, MIT). She has published over 75 articles in sociology, health research, and interdisciplinary journals.
Kimport holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Yale University and a doctorate in sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
