UCSF Clinical Leadership Accelerator

The UCSF Clinical Leadership Accelerator gives clinical faculty an opportunity to gain the insight and skills needed to lead change and improve health care.

The UCSF Clinical Leadership Accelerator (UCSF-CLA) program provided an opportunity for faculty to gain insights and skills to lead change and improve health care. The program was free of cost to participants thanks to funding through the Chancellor's Strategic Initiative, and it was administered by Healthforce Center at UCSF. The program ran three cohorts in the spring of 2019.

Grounded in Healthforce Center's leadership model, the program provided relevant leadership training for clinical faculty. As a result, UCSF-CLA participants:

  • Increased self-awareness and self-efficacy
  • Acquired skills to address complex issues and challenges
  • Learned tools to effectively communicate, negotiate, and collaborate
  • Gained a greater sense of community at UCSF

Department chairs and division chiefs nominated faculty by completing this brief survey. UCSF clinical faculty with five or more years of experience in a leadership role were eligible to participate in the two all-day training sessions and five hours of assignments before and between in-person sessions.
