In 2011, the Institute of Medicine released a report calling for the creation of infrastructure to collect and analyze inter professional health workforce data to ensure that the US has an adequate workforce to meet future health care needs. But, very little progress has been made in the five years  since the report, according to this latest publication, in large part because of lack of funding.
