One Physician's Leadership Journey

Date:
June 10, 2016

A California Health Care Foundation (CHCF) article featuring Geoffrey Leung, MD, EdM, describes the transformative experience he's had with our CHCF Health Care Leadership Program.

An ambulatory medical director and chief of family medicine at Riverside University Health System, Dr. Leung was at risk for professional burnout when he applied for the program two years ago. He gained "a renewed sense of mission, purpose, and gratitude from both a professional standpoint and a personal standpoint," he said.

"We often place accountability and blame on everything and everyone around us," Leung said. "The CHCF program helps us rebalance that perspective and realize what we do, how we behave, how we see ourselves in relation to the world — all are major determinants of our own success and how we impact people. In order to do transformational work, many of us have to first undergo an inner transformation."
