Connections across sectors is Healthforce Center’s superpower and what we are best known for. Healthforce Center is your resource for everything connected to the people of health care — and their champions. We are uniquely positioned to connect diverse individuals and sectors and generate a collective force for health, equity, and action. We develop and manage programs that unite diverse leaders, host convenings to gather experts around issues, share our actionable research in a variety of settings, and rally organizations across the country to tackle challenges and identify solutions.
Through the power of networks and our involvement in different spaces, we bring diverse health care leaders and visionaries together to foster ideas and spread innovations. Bridging sectors and divisions, Healthforce Center serves as an incubator, connector, and accelerator to drive collective changemaking in health care.
Project highlights
Highlights of our projects that leverage diverse groups to achieve results include:
- Managing the California Improvement Network (CIN), which brings diverse health care leaders together to foster ideas, innovations, and improvements in care delivery. Recent CIN events enabled members to share insights about providing care differently during the pandemic and creating health organizations that are actively anti-racist.
- Catalyzing the alumni networks of our leadership programs (for example, the California Health Care Foundation's Leadership Alumni Network and Cedars-Sinai Managing To Leading) through which we can activate collective problem solving, poll leaders and managers on trending issues and solutions, and disseminate valuable resources.
- Convening leaders and scholars from universities, delivery organizations, professional associations, advocacy groups, government agencies, and private insurance companies to identify and prioritize recommendations for the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation to ensure an adequate health workforce to support the care of people with serious illnesses in the community.
- Supporting the integration of community health workers (CHWs) in Whole-Person Care Pilots for the Blue Shield of California (BSCF), including collaborating with Monterey County, the City of Sacramento, and Santa Clara County to advance their efforts.
- Leading a collaborative to test new models of primary care that better incorporate medical assistants with expanded roles into multi-disciplinary teams for the Hitachi Foundation.
- Convening thought leaders and influencers to catalyze collaborative action on expanding graduate medical education (GME) for the California Health Care Foundation.
- Gathering grantees from the San Francisco Foundation's initiative aimed at building the field of Community Health Workers (CHWs) and Promotores to explore evolving opportunities in light of policy and reimbursements changes.
- Leading the UCSF Health Workforce Research Center on Long-Term Care (UCSF HWRC), which is one of a national network of centers funded by the US Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). UCSF HWRC conducts research on long-term care, labor market trends, and outcomes and impacts of employment and training policies.
